		<description>Dear Steve Davies,

The Spanish electricity producers&#039; association (www.unesa.es) has just produced preliminary figures for 2009. The economic problems of Spain reduced overall electricity demand by 4.3%. Excluding hydro (up 8%), generation from renewables was up 22% while fossil fuel power station output fell by 15%. Unesa reports that &#039;in parallel, CO2 emissions fell by 17%&#039;.
