what your entire blog did not take account of is artificial resource shortages caused by regulation and legislation. Food prices increased why? Easy, a passion for ethanol and some drought years.

copper prices increased as China is quickly industrializing and consuming more. When nano wire is finally on the market millions of tons of copper will be recycled leading to a collapse in copper prices. Already circuit boards are becoming carbon/graphite based. You see a short term trend and scream long term disaster thus you miss the entire argument. As long as the merchantilists can impose artificial resource shortages they can keep prices artificially inflated short term, but the long term trend goes to the Law of Increasing Returns.
